As part of efforts to foster inter-agency synergy in the fight against crime and ensure safer roads, the Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi, has commenced a familiarization tour to security agencies in the state, beginning with a visit to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Command in Lafia.
Accompanied by his Permanent Secretary, Directors, and other key staff of the Ministry, Barr. Danladi described the visit as a homecoming, noting his long-standing relationship with the FRSC as an Honorary Special Marshal.
“I deeply appreciate the warm reception and the opportunity to interact and explore areas of stronger collaboration. As an active participant in road safety advocacy, I consider this visit both historic and personal,” he remarked.
He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the Corps, particularly in strengthening legal frameworks that enhance enforcement and reduce road traffic violations. “We seek to build a more robust partnership in our collective efforts to secure lives and promote justice,” he added.
In her response, the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Comfort Ochiba Asom welcomed the Attorney General and his delegation, acknowledging the strategic importance of the Ministry of Justice in achieving the Corps’ mandate.
She likened the relationship between the two institutions to that of “a husband and wife,” emphasizing their interdependence.
The Sector Commander further expressed concern over legal bottlenecks that often hinder the prosecution of traffic offenders, citing judicial technicalities and procedural challenges.She called for the Attorney General’s intervention in addressing these issues to enhance the efficiency of mobile courts.
Adding her voice, the Sector Legal Officer, Grace Ajunwe, highlighted specific challenges encountered during prosecutions, including delays in legal processes and inconsistent judicial interpretations.
She expressed optimism that the Attorney General’s visit would usher in practical solutions and improved coordination between the FRSC and the Ministry of Justice.
The visit marks a significant step towards institutional synergy, with both parties pledging continued cooperation in the pursuit of justice and public safety in Nasarawa State.
