In continuation of his familiarization visits to security agencies across Nasarawa State, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi, has paid a courtesy visit to the State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and other senior staff of the Ministry of Justice, Barr. Danladi was warmly received by the State Commander of Narcotics, Elisha Dechi David.
Speaking during the visit, the Attorney General emphasized the importance of synergy between the Ministry of Justice and NDLEA in combating drug abuse and related crimes in the state.
“Our mission is simple to familiarize, collaborate, and strengthen partnerships in tackling crime, particularly drug-related offenses.
The menace of drug abuse is a serious societal threat, and I must commend you and your officers for your unwavering commitment to curbing this challenge,” Danladi stated.
He highlighted the critical role the NDLEA plays in maintaining public safety and assured the Agency of the Ministry’s readiness to provide legal and institutional support to aid its operations.
“I recall our robust engagement during the last expanded security council meeting. Today’s visit is a follow-up to deepen that collaboration.
As a Ministry, we shall continue to stand by you, offer needed legal backing, and ensure justice delivery is swift and effective,” he added.
Responding, Commander Elisha Dechi David thanked the Attorney General for the visit, describing it as timely and symbolic.
He stressed the strategic importance of inter-agency collaboration, particularly in addressing the intersection between drug abuse and criminal behavior.
“Drug use remains a major driver of crime. We are encouraged by your commitment and willingness to partner with us. This visit reinforces our shared responsibility to create a safer and drug-free Nasarawa State,” the Commander noted.
He further pointed out certain operational challenges, including the discovery of substances outside the scope of NDLEA jurisdiction and cases involving minors and schoolgirls who are vulnerable to exploitation.
He expressed hope that closer ties with the Ministry would help bridge legal gaps and enable more decisive interventions.
The highlight of the visit was the decoration of Barr. Isaac Danladi as Ambassador of the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) in Nasarawa State a recognition of his dedication to justice and public safety.
