The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, PhD, has given Governor Abdullahi Sule an impressive performance rating of over 75 percent, applauding his massive investments in infrastructure, peacebuilding, and socio-economic development during his six years in office.
Speaking to newsmen to mark Governor Sule’s six-year tenure and President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s two years in office, Speaker Jatau highlighted the governor’s impactful projects and inclusive leadership style as key drivers of progress in Nasarawa State.
“Today marks the sixth year of His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi Sule as Governor of Nasarawa State,” he said. “From all indications and what we see on the ground, he has performed above 75 percent in terms of infrastructure development, employment generation, peace maintenance, and attracting investors.”
The Speaker cited ongoing construction projects such as flyovers, underpasses, the State Secretariat Complex in Lafia, and various youth and women empowerment programs as clear evidence of Governor Sule’s commitment to the welfare of citizens, including civil servants and pensioners.
“He has done well in all aspects. The person who will succeed him will have a lot to do,” Jatau added.
On the governor’s leadership style, the Speaker praised his all-inclusive approach, noting that appointments cut across ethnic and religious groups in the state.
“In that regard, I score him 90 percent. He is unbiased and governs with fairness,” Jatau stated.
Rejecting claims that the current 7th Assembly is a rubber stamp, the Speaker insisted that the lawmakers are diligently working with the governor to accelerate development in the state.
“For any government to progress, all arms must cooperate. Those calling us rubber stamp are enemies of progress who do not want good things for Nasarawa,” he said firmly.
He further emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to unity and legislative activism, revealing that this Assembly holds the record for the highest number of private members’ bills aimed at enhancing governance and the welfare of the people.
Looking ahead, Jatau promised that Nasarawa citizens will see more dividends of democracy before Governor Sule’s tenure ends in 2027.
Turning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two years in office, the Speaker applauded the national leader’s infrastructural efforts and fiscal reforms.
“Since he came on board, the removal of fuel subsidy has led to increased federal allocations to states and local governments,” he noted. “The President has also invested in roads, health facilities, and the establishment of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) headquartered in Lafia, which is a huge achievement.”
Jatau rated President Tinubu’s performance at over 65 percent, expressing optimism that it will rise to 90 percent by the end of his term.
He called on all leaders in Nigeria to embrace inclusiveness and urged Nigerians to support their leaders to achieve sustainable progress.
“Let us see ourselves as one Nigeria, united by God’s grace. We must support one another to succeed,” the Speaker said.
Concluding, Jatau stressed the importance of peace and tolerance among Nigerians, declaring, “Peace is paramount and non-negotiable. It is the collective responsibility of all citizens for the development and progress of our nation.”
