Minna Court Orders Remand of Three Suspects in Correctional Custody

Three Persons have been ordered to be remanded in Correctional Custody on the order of the Minna Senior Magistrate Court Six Hajiya Halima Balaraba Yusu

The three defendants were standing trial on five count charges which included Criminal Conspiracy, Criminal trespass, extortion, attempt to commit culpable homicide and Mischief.

According to the police First Information Report, marked MN/CR/52/2025 made available in court and obtained by this reporter,the five counts contravened sections 97,(1),348,229, 292 and 327 of the penal code law respectively.

They are Malik Abdullahi, Zakariya  Abdullahi  Suleiman Isyaku all of Tamaworo Village Via Doko in Lavun 

The three defendants and eighteen others now at large all of Tamawoo village in Lavun Local goverment were said to have conspired among themselves "while armed, criminally trespssed into the Fadama Farmland of Abubakar Andrew situated at Ladazo area of Nku village via Doko, Lavun Local goverment area of Niger state.

He was said to have on the 17th of April, 2025, led a team  of Farmers  to his farm when the three defendants and eighteen others now at large attacked the farmers with dangerous weapons such as Cutlass,sticks,axe and Dane gun.

" On the process ,one Ibrahim Olaniya  sustained injuries on his leg one Emmanuel Silas Jiya sustained on his body and the sum of three hundred and Ninety eight Naira   (N398,000) were made away and six motorcycles valued (1,361,000) were destroyed, Sixteen mobile phone of different models also destroyed all valued yet to be known"

When the charges were read to them by the Presiding Senior Magistrate Hajiya Halima Balaraba Yusuf, they all Pleaded not guilty to the charge as read.

At this point their defense counsel Barrister Aliyu Bida told the court "that I have an oral application to made for their bail"

The Presiding Senior Magistrate then told their counsel "that you know what to do as regard their bail you better do what you are suppose to do"

The Police Prosecutor Inspector Emmanuel Bassa had earlier told the court that one of the charges leveled against the defendants is not ordinaryly bailable and he prayed the court to remand them in Correctional Custody.

Hajiya Halima Balaraba Yusuf,then Ordered for their remand in Minna Federal Correctional Custody and adjougned the case to 27th of June 2025 for further mention.
