The Nigerian Tourism development Authority NTDA in partnership with Plateau Hikers and Tour Association PHATA has taken a step towards creating awareness and encouraging Nigerian Youths to embrace Tourism.
The Director HTT department of NTDA Mrs Ruth Ndam who represented the Director General said partnership with
the Plateau Hikers and Tour Association which is an umbrella body of all hike groups in Plateau state and Nigeria at large is create awareness through campaign to encourage Nigerian Youths to embrace Tourism .
Speaking during closing of hiking in some parts of part of Plateau State , adding that hiking is another avenue of discovering tourism potential of the State
"It is evident that Hiking is gaining grounds in Pateau state blessed with mountains, valleys and watersfalls is the hiking hub of Nigeria and have produced the first and only hikers association in the country.
We Commend your efforts and sacrifices in Tourism across the Country.
The chairperson of Plateau hikers and tour association also the zonal coordinator NTDA Mrs Nanna Dashe Yakubu appreciates all trustees who worked tirelessly,hikers, patrons and collaborators for supporting PHATA achieve a successful hike and ending the season of 2024
She disclosed that in the first quarter of 2025 their will be a training to Upskill all hikers which will be organized by the association.
According to her a total of 210 hikers attended 2024 hike which covers six kilometers climbing the amazing, beautiful views of Maza hills and down to the water falls for a picnic.
He added that hikers were entertained with food drinks and snacks.
Our correspondent gather that the local community of Maza were not left behind as we donated toiletries soap , petroleum jelly and sanitary towels to them through the community leader and woman leader
