Senator Barau I Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, welcomed a significant political figure from Kano, Alhaji Sani Abdulkadir Dambo, as he defected from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Dambo, a former two-time Chairman of the Kano State Board of Internal Revenue and recently appointed Special Adviser on Investment to Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, announced his shift during a visit to Senator Barau’s Abuja residence on Monday.

Dambo, who left the NNPP, expressed his intent to work actively for the APC both at the state and national levels. In his statement, Dambo said,
"I thank Almighty God for guiding me back to my home, the APC. We will remain committed and loyal to the party in Kano and across Nigeria, using my expertise for the success of APC."

In a similar development, Alhaji Rabiu Alhassan Durum, a key NNPP figure in Kabo Local Government Area, also defected to the APC.

Senator Barau commended the new members, stating that their decision aligns with the APC’s vision for national transformation.

He pledged continued collaboration with all stakeholders committed to Nigeria's progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement signed by Ismail Mudashir, Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity, the announcement reiterated the Senator's dedication to addressing the nation's challenges alongside new party members.
