The President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, has lauded the performances of both the male and female U18 national basketball teams, J'Tigress and J'Tigers, during the FIBA Africa U18 World Cup qualifying tournament held in South Africa.

Despite the J'Tigress falling to Mali with a score of 76-56 in the final match, Kida praised the girls for their bravery, determination, and strong showing throughout the tournament. He highlighted their journey to the final as a significant achievement, one that the Federation is proud of.

Kida also acknowledged the commendable efforts of the J'Tigers, despite the challenges they faced due to their delayed arrival caused by issues with the South African High Commission. He noted that, despite this setback, the team displayed resilience and delivered an inspiring performance.

"We are delighted with your performances and will build on these successes in the years to come. You all gave your best, and we are confident that greatness awaits each of you in your careers," Kida said.

He extended his gratitude to Coach Juliana Negedu and her assistants, as well as the entire delegation, for their hard work under challenging conditions. Kida further expressed his appreciation to the Honourable Minister and the Ministry of Sports for their unwavering support, stressing the importance of early and adequate preparation for the upcoming FIBA U18 World Cup in Czech Republic in 2025.

The Federation, Kida added, is committed to providing the necessary resources to ensure that the teams excel on the global stage.
