His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of five police officers and the injury of 11 others in a road accident that occurred in the town of Karfi, along the Kano-Zaria road, earlier this morning (Tuesday).
The Emir described the loss of the officers as a significant tragedy, highlighting the crucial role the police play in maintaining peace and order within the community, and across the country. He emphasized that the work of the police is one of immense sacrifice, which enables citizens to go about their daily lives in peace.
In his message of condolence, the Emir extended his heartfelt sympathies to the Inspector General of Police, the Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone One, the Kano State Police Commissioner, the families, and relatives of the deceased officers. He offered prayers for the souls of the departed, asking for divine mercy and eternal rest for them.
For the injured, His Royal Highness prayed for their quick recovery, expressing hope that such incidents would not occur again in the future.
The Emir also used the occasion to advise the public, especially drivers and road users, to strictly adhere to traffic rules at all times, especially on major highways, to safeguard lives and prevent further tragedies.
