The UBEC-SUBEB Model Smart School in Ibadan is set to conduct its Computer Based Test (CBT) entrance examinations for learners across Early Childhood Care Development Education (ECCDE), Primary, and Junior Secondary School levels on September 16, 2024.
In a statement issued by the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, the board anticipates a high turnout of prospective learners for the exams.
The prestigious Model Smart School, located in Sogunro, Ibadan, is jointly managed by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and OYOSUBEB.
Dr. Adeniran emphasized that the school offers free, high-quality basic education and urged parents to take full advantage of the opportunity.
"This institution is dedicated to equipping students with 21st-century skills, utilizing modern computer gadgets and innovative teaching methods," he said.
Students participating in the exam will use devices provided by the school. Representatives from UBEC will be on-site to oversee the process.
Additionally, Dr. Adeniran encouraged interested parents who have yet to register their children to do so via the school’s website, www.oyostatesmartschool.com, before the exam date.
In a related development, Dr. Adeniran praised the recently concluded EIDU pilot program, which trained 25 OYOSUBEB staff, including head teachers, class teachers, and quality assurance officers from selected local government areas.
The program, organized by the EIDU Digital Learning team, equipped participants with essential digital skills in preparation for the new academic session.
Silas Armandos, Senior Education Officer at EIDU, expressed confidence that the training would enhance the teaching methods in participating schools. As part of the program, teachers received Android phones and relevant teaching materials to aid in classroom instruction.
