Flood has wrecked a devastating havorck on the facilities in Maiduguri Medium Security Custodial center.
The flood which is a natural disaster was caused by the overflow and collapse of the Alau Dam in Konduga Local Government Area. Of the state.
In a press statement signed by the head of the Media and Public Relation Officer of the Nigerian, Correctional Service ((NCoS) Umar Abubakar Danlami ACS, and made available to Rimawaglobal newsin Minna, Tuesday.
According to him, the Nigerian Correctional Service, (NCoS), is working tirelessly to address the devastating impact of the recent flooding " on our facilities in Maiduguri, Particularly the Medium Security Custodial center,
" The Unfortunate incident is a natural disasters caused by the overflow and collapse of the Alau Dam in Kondugal Local Government Area"
Abubakar Danlami noted that as the Service is responsible for the safety and safekeeping of inmates, he assured the public that necessary measures has been taking to ensure the safety of the inmates.
Among the measure taken, according to the head of the Public Relation unit of the service, include the evacuation of the inmates to a safer facility, to ensure smooth operation and to collaborate with sister Security and relevant agencies towards providing Support and assistance to those affected
Although, it Was not clear if the was a reported case of escape of any inmates however, he explained that, " contrary to initial reports, the officers and men of the command are working round the clock to ensure a smooth and secure transfer process"
While appreciating the Support and guidance of the Vice president Kashim Shettima visit to Maidugur to assess the situation, Umar Danlami Abubakar assured that the service will continue updating the Public on the further development.
Assuring that the NCoS is committed to maintaining order and ensuring Public safety during and after this challenging time.
