Members of International Studies Alumni Association, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria have passed a vote of confidence on its interim executive council to steer the affairs of the association for the next two years.
The new exco is the pioneer national executive of the association which was established in October, 2021.
This is contained in statement by the Union's spokesman, Abdullahi Shua'ibu which was made available to Journalists in Zaria on Sunday that read partly "In its first Annual General Meeting AGM held at ABU Zaria at the weekend, the members in attendance started that the Interim body had performed excellently hence the unanimous vote.
"The elections segment of the AGM which featured a public lecture and book presentation on "Brain Gain", was conducted by the Association's Electoral Committee member, Prof. Kayode Omojuwa of the Department of Political Science and International Studies.
"Omojuwa said the members agreed that the interim exco should continue on their various positions unopposed.
"He said those elected included Ambassador Muntari Kaita (IS '82) as National President, and Ambassador Enoch Pear Duchi (IS '82) - Vice President.
"Others are Alhaji Kabir Husaini (IS '85) for the position of Secretary-General, Professor Ngozi Thelma-Mohammed (IS '90) as Assistant Secretary-General.
"Bringing up the rear was
Col. (Rtd) Mohammed Dole (IS' 90) as National Treasurer, while Alhaji Abdullahi Shuaibu (IS '85) will serve as Public Relations Officer.
"The elected officials were sworn-in per relevant provisions of the Association's Constitution and the need to uphold them.
"Kaita, the National President thanked members for the confidence reposed on them and promised to take organisation to greater heights in giving back to its Alma Mater.
"He however appealed to the numerous International Studies graduates in various public and private sectors, retired diplomats and other public servants to join the Association and to promote academic excellence in the country.
"A member of the Association and the Guest Speaker at the AGM, Professor AY Shehu thanked the electoral committee for a good work and congratulate the elected officials.
"Professor Shehu noted that, "the outcome of the election is a clear testament of their commitment, dedication and selflessness service."
"He also wished the new executive council the ability to guide them to lead the Association to achieving its goals and objectives.
"The AGM was graced by the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the representative of Zamfara State Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal and acting Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Dr. Chris Maiyaki, a graduate of ABU International Studies programme.
