In a decisive show of support, Edo Elders on Tuesday pledged their full backing for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, outlining his priorities for the state.

The elders emphasized the need for a leader who prioritizes public education, healthcare, the environment, and the well-being of women, youths, and the elderly.

"We need a governor who understands Edo voters’ economic struggles and will work every day to make our state a better place to live.

We are going to make sure that he is elected governor," the elders declared. "This is the project of the Edo people, and God willing, we shall succeed."

The elders praised Senator Okpebholo as the "soul of a new Edo State," committing to ensuring his victory in the upcoming election.

They highlighted his dedication to transparency, accountability, prudent management of resources, and development.

In their statement, issued after a meeting in Benin City, the elders urged the electorate to reject political extremism, unremarkable politicians, and administrative incompetence.

They touted Okpebholo's vision for the state, emphasizing his plans to build infrastructure, create jobs, and foster an environment conducive to business growth.

The statement, signed by Chief Efua Abudu, Chairman of the Edo Elders Forum (EEF), also criticized the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for failing to deliver meaningful development in the state.

The elders described Okpebholo as the visionary leader Edo State needs, with the exposure, education, and vision to propel the state to the next level of development.

Senator Okpebholo is seen as a frontrunner in the gubernatorial race, with plans to attract investment, enhance state revenue, and address infrastructure gaps.

His commitment to economic buoyancy, inclusive governance, and women’s empowerment is expected to resonate with voters across Edo State.
