The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, Chairman of the House of Representatives' Committee on Youth and Sports. Hon. Ekene Adams passed away on Tuesday, 16th July 2024, following a prolonged illness.
In a heartfelt condolence message, NBBF President Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, described Hon. Ekene as a brilliant and resourceful sports administrator, whose dedication and passion significantly contributed to the growth of sports in Nigeria.
"In whatever situation, we must give reverence and all glory to God Almighty, as He giveth and taketh," Kida remarked. "Painful as the death of Hon. Ekene Adams is to the sports community, we must take solace in the fact that he lived an eventful and memorable life."
Engr. Kida extended his prayers to the family, friends, and associates of Hon. Ekene, asking for divine strength and fortitude to bear this significant loss. He concluded by noting that both the Nigerian socio-political and sports communities have lost a rare gem.
