The Nasarawa State Government has inaugurated the Implementation Committee to act on the report by the High Powered Committee on the Creation of Additional Chiefdoms, Districts, and Village Areas within the state.

The committee was inaugurated by the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Sule, at the conference hall of the Deputy Governor's temporary office in Lafia.

Dr. Akabe highlighted that the formation of this implementation committee aligns with the government's policy to create and upgrade chiefdoms and other territorial entities, and is crucial for resolving related disputes.

He emphasized that the committee will utilize the report from the Philip Dada High Powered Committee, constituted in 2022, to bolster the traditional administrative system for better performance and address key chieftaincy and territorial issues.

The committee, chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Mohammed Ubandoma Aliyu, includes key government officials like the Commissioners of Justice, Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Lands and Urban Development, and the Chairman of ALGON.

Aliyu assured that the committee will meet the three-week deadline for the report's implementation.

In a related development, Dr. Akabe attended the opening ceremony of the 48th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Lafia, where he reiterated the government's commitment to supporting local councils to enhance their development.

National Chairman of ALGON, Mu'azu Maifata, commended the Nasarawa State Government for its support, praising Governor Sule for enabling local councils to function effectively.
