The statement claims that the day was peaceful until Shaibu attempted to enforce a court judgment that questioned his removal from office.
The Edo State House of Assembly has appealed the judgment and filed for a stay of execution, indicating that Shaibu's reinstatement cannot be enforced until the court makes a final decision, which may reach the Supreme Court.
Shaibu's alleged attempt to use thugs to regain access to the deputy governor's office is described as a "resort to self-help" and an affront to constituted authorities, potentially leading to anarchy as the state cannot have two deputy governors simultaneously.
The press release calls on security operatives to restrain Shaibu to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
It also suggests that APC's boast of using federal power in the upcoming election is demonstrated by Shaibu's actions.
The Campaign Council urges supporters to remain calm and resolute, asserting that no intimidation will deter their commitment to elect Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the next governor of Edo State on September 21st, despite the actions of Shaibu and the APC.
