The Hon. Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, today marked the groundbreaking ceremony of the 250-housing unit Renewed Hope Estate in Nasarawa State’s capital. The event, part of the nationwide Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, was attended by distinguished guests, including, Governor of Nasarawa State Abdullahi Sule.
In his address, Arc. Dangiwa highlighted the federal government's commitment to providing quality housing across Nigeria. The Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in February, aims to deliver 50,000 housing units in its first phase, with 7 Renewed Hope Cities and multiple Renewed Hope Estates in various states.
The Nasarawa estate will feature 50 units of 1-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 150 units of 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, and 50 units of 3-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, designed to be affordable and expandable as residents' incomes improve.
Arc. Dangiwa emphasized the economic benefits of the housing projects, including job creation and boosting local economies. He also stressed the importance of quality and timely completion, charging contractors to adhere to specifications and timelines.
The minister thanked Governor Abdullahi Sule for providing land at no cost, reducing the housing units' cost by 30%. He reiterated the federal government’s commitment to delivering on its promises, ensuring that Nigerians benefit from sustainable and affordable housing.

Governor Abdullahi Sule commended the minister for choosing Nasarawa State as one of the pilot states to benefit from the Renew Hope Cities housing projects initiative, aimed at alleviating the housing problems affecting civil servants.
"This, I believe, is in furtherance of our President's commitment to address the housing challenges of our people, particularly the low and medium-income population class of our workforce," Governor Sule stated.
Governor Sule pointed out that apart from providing housing for workers, the project will also create job opportunities for the people of the state through the engagement of local labor. It will attract more businesses and investment to the area, thereby boosting the economy of Lafia and Nasarawa State at large.
"That is why we did not hesitate to provide a piece of land for the construction of this edifice as part of our support for the Renew Hope initiative of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu's administration," he added.
Governor Sule also mentioned that following the federal government's direction in this regard, his administration has been relentless in ensuring that workers get affordable and comfortable accommodations.
"For this reason, the government has approved the allocations and issued letters to civil servants occupying government quarters within Lafia on an owner-occupier basis," he said.
To ease the mode of payment for the beneficiaries, Governor Sule directed the Head of Service to conclude discussions on modalities to offer soft loans to deserving occupants from the Federal Mortgage Bank. "I am excited when the MD of the bank said that the loan is available," Governor Sule concluded.
