BSU Teaching Hospital To Establish Cancer Treatment Centre

Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi is set to open a state-of-the-art cancer treatment center, according to the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Hwande. 

The goal is to improve early detection and treatment of cancer to increase chances of successful recovery.

Dr. Hwande made this announcement during a press briefing ahead of the International Health Investment Summit/Scientific Exhibition and Endowment Fund for Cancer event. 

He emphasized the importance of early detection in curing cancer and highlighted the need for better facilities for cancer management in Benue State.

He said the management of the Teaching hospital also plans to launch a Five billion naira cancer endowment fund and establish a Very Important Persons (VIP) Clinic with advanced testing equipment. 

Dr. Hwande expressed gratitude to supporters like former Governor, Sen. Gabriel Suswam and Governor Hyacinth Alia for their contributions to the hospital's growth and development. 

According to Hwande, both Governor Alia and former Governor Suswam would be honoured during the event for their respective roles in uplifting the standard of the hospital.
