Port Harcourt, June 10, 2024— The Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition (RSEYLC) has strongly criticized the recent actions of 27 former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The coalition is appalled by the former legislators' denial of their defection and their false claims of securing a court judgment affirming their PDP membership.

The Attorney General of Rivers State clarified that the purported court suit was dismissed due to lack of standing and jurisdiction, deeming it an abuse of court process.

The RSEYLC, representing the youth of Rivers State, expressed outrage over the deceitful actions of the defected lawmakers, labeling them as a disgrace to democratic values and an insult to the intelligence of the people.

Dr. Legborsi Yamaabana, Chairman of RSEYLC, emphasized that the people of Rivers State deserve leaders with integrity and a commitment to public service, not those who resort to dishonesty for political gain.

The coalition calls for the condemnation of these actions and reaffirms its commitment to fighting political corruption and advocating for good governance in Rivers State.
