In a swift response to a distress call on the evening of April 3rd, 2024, the Nasarawa State Police Command, in collaboration with the military, thwarted a potential kidnapping attempt along the Nasarawa - Keffi highway near Kemu village.

Nasarawa State Command stated that upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers encountered armed hoodlums who opened fire, initiating a gun battle. Despite the assailants' aggression, the joint security forces prevailed, resulting in the neutralization of one suspected kidnapper.
During the operation, authorities recovered a lethal AK47 rifle along with eleven rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, effectively foiling the criminals' plans and forcing them to flee.
Investigations revealed that the kidnappers had targeted two sport utility vehicles with the intention of abducting their occupants.
However, thanks to the timely intervention of the security forces, a potential tragedy was averted.
The injured suspect was promptly transported to General Hospital, Nasarawa, where he succumbed to his wounds while undergoing medical treatment.
Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, reiterated the commitment of the police command to safeguarding the lives and properties of all residents and road users in the state.
This successful operation represents a significant stride towards achieving this objective.
