... lauds Gov. Sule's efforts in tackling insecurity and promoting peace in the state
Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, met with Chairmen of the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state today to discuss lasting solutions to the security challenges experienced across the state.
Addressing the LG Chairmen in his office in Lafia, the Speaker said he was directed by Governor Abdullahi Sule to engage with them on finding solutions to the security challenges in their respective LGAs.
"I was given the mandate by His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, during the state security meeting on the 15th of this month," he said.
"Insecurity challenges such as kidnapping, communal clashes, and armed robbery have increased recently."
"We have been enjoying relative peace in the state until now. I call on you all to collectively discuss how to address the security challenges in our areas," he added.
The Speaker commended Governor Sule for his proactive approach to tackling insecurity and promoting peace in the state.
"Governor Abdullahi Sule is a man of peace who is working tirelessly to ensure that people enjoy peace in the state. No development can take place without peace," he said.
"Security is everyone's business; let's put our heads together."
The Speaker urged the people of the state to live in peace and tolerate one another regardless of their affiliations.
"Let's all continue to live in peace and tolerate one another, as God did not make a mistake in creating us, irrespective of our tribes and religious backgrounds, to live together," he added.
While sympathizing with the people of Katakpa and its surrounding communities in Toto LGA over recent attacks, the Speaker appealed to troublemakers in Toto LGA to cease fire for peace to reign.
Responding, Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata, the State ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Lafia LGA, appreciated the House for the good working relationship between them.
Maifata, who is also the ALGON National President, thanked Governor Sule for consistently supporting the LGAs in the state, especially in the area of insecurity.
"Rt. Hon. Speaker, we are grateful for your support and guidance. We will not let you and the state down," he said.
The ALGON Chairman highlighted the capital-intensive nature of security and called for increased security funding for the LGAs in the state.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Abubakar, representing Doma South constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on LG and Chieftaincy Affairs, said they had discussed extensively on the security situations in the 13 LGAs.
He added that, by the grace of God, there would be improvements in the security situations across the state's LGAs.
The Chairman called on the people to support the security agencies by providing useful information to them.
