Bauchi Governor Urges Christian Community: Embrace Forgiveness, Love, and Mutual Respect this Easter for Peace

Residents of Bauchi State have been urged to imbibe the spirit of  love  for one another,  forgiveness and mutual respect in order to promote peaceful coexistence. 

The assertion was made by the State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad  in his goodwill message on the occasion of the 2024 Good Friday and Easter Monday Celebrations by Christian community.

According to him, “Bauchi State and our country as a whole need peace and unity now more than ever. We cannot afford to allow ourselves to be divided along religious or ethnic divides. We must allow peace to reign in order to make progress.”

He stressed that, “I would therefore like to call on you all to live harmoniously with one another irrespective of  ethnic, religious or political differences.  I would like to also appeal to you all to imbibe the spirit of  love  for one another,  forgiveness and mutual respect.”

He said that,”I wish to extend my  warm regards and felicitation to  our Christian brothers and sisters on the occasion  of this year’s  Easter.  Easter is observed annually by Christians to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

The Governor added that, “During his life time, Jesus Christ preached peace, honesty and love for one another. I therefore enjoin you all to  imbibe these virtues and put them into practice  irrespective of your religious inclination.”

Bala Muhammad stressed that, “As we mark this year’s Easter, I wish to on behalf of myself and the Government of Bauchi State, extend my warm and sincere message of goodwill to the good people of the State.”

“I would  like to appeal for sober reflection and self-evaluation by all with a view to knowing how well we  relate with our creator and  fellow human beings during the last one year and  make  amends where necessary,” he added.

The Governor stressed that,”We must see ourselves as one and the same people  irrespective of our ethno-religious heterogeneity.There is also the need for continued prayers to God for the current relative peace in the State to be sustained.”

“Let me use this occasion to reiterate the irrevocable commitment of the Bauchi State Government to the maintenance of law and order. To this end, we have taken all measures to ensure the safety of lives and property of the people of the State,” he added.

He also said that,”I would like to appeal for your continued understanding and support to the government in its effort to ensure a peaceful Bauchi State which we can all be proud of.”

According to him, “As you all know, the State Government is leaving no stone unturned towards mitigating the current hardship being experienced  across the country. Accordingly, we have  provided foodstuffs as a palliative measure to cushion the  effect of the hardship.”

The Governor also assured that,”We will not relent in this regard until the situation improves.The hardship should be seen as a temporary set back, and as a people known for resilience, I am confident that we would overcome the    difficulty in no distant future.”

He concluded saying,”Finally, while wishing you a happy Easter, I pray that the occasion will be observed without any hitches.
