In a spirited address during the vibrant Tiv Cultural and Traditional Festival held in Imom village, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Senator Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West, echoed a clarion call for unity and peaceful coexistence among the diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria. Emphasizing the pivotal role of ethnic leaders in fostering national unity, Senator Wadada underscored the imperative of promoting peace, tolerance, and respect for cultural values and norms.
"True unity in our diverse nation hinges significantly on the proactive involvement of traditional and ethnic leaders," Senator Wadada remarked passionately.
He emphasized the need for leaders to actively engage in politics geared towards good governance, justice, and equitable opportunities, as vital components in nurturing democracy and fostering lasting peace.
Furthermore, Mr. Emmanuel Jime, former Executive Secretary of Nigeria Shippers Council and a distinguished guest speaker at the event, directed attention to the pressing issue of girl child education within the Tiv community in Nasarawa State. Advocating for heightened awareness and investment in girls' education, Mr. Jime highlighted the urgent need to combat the scourge of early marriages and other societal vices hindering progress and development.
Addressing a captivated audience, Mr. Jime urged individuals to transcend partisan divides and view political affiliation as a catalyst for development rather than a cause for division.
