Kebbi Government Initiates Aerial Spray Against Transboundary Migratory Birds

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, alongside the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, have officially launched the aerial spray control campaign aimed at combating transboundary migratory birds across twelve frontline states.

The initiative, announced by Governor Nasir Idris during the 2023/2024 National Flag Off ceremony held at Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, underscores the government's commitment to revitalizing agriculture and ensuring food security.

 Governor Idris highlighted significant investments, including billions of naira towards agricultural development, the distribution of fertilizers, assorted grains, water pumps, power tillers, among other implements, as part of the state's agricultural agenda dubbed "KADAGE".

Senator Abubakar Kyari commended the proactive approach of the Kebbi State government in addressing agricultural challenges, emphasizing the Federal Government's dedication to bolstering food security. 

The Minister stressed the importance of controlling transboundary and migratory pests to safeguard crops, particularly cereals like rice and wheat, crucial for food production.

The choice of Kebbi State as the launch venue signifies its pivotal role in agricultural activities, notably rice and wheat cultivation. 

Hon. Shehu Muazu, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, expressed gratitude for the Minister's continued support and highlighted the conducive environment fostered by Governor Idris to attract private investments.

The aerial spray initiative underscores collaborative efforts between the federal and state governments to mitigate agricultural pests' impact and ensure sustained food production, aligning with broader national agricultural transformation agendas.
