The Benue South Coalitions for Good Governance and Accountability has lauded the Federal Government's decision to appoint Prof Silas Ochejele as the pioneer Acting Chief Medical Director of the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo Teaching Hospital (FUSHSTH).
In a statement released by the group's leader, Engr Ameh Johnson, the commendation was based on the remarkable infrastructural development witnessed within a short timeframe under Prof Ochejele's leadership. The group emphasized Prof Ochejele's commitment to excellence, noting significant improvements in healthcare accessibility, which have reduced the need for residents to travel to distant cities for medical treatment.
Highlighting the anticipated benefits of Prof Ochejele's leadership, the group expressed confidence in the Teaching Hospital's ability to enhance practical training and research, complementing the efforts of the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo.
Furthermore, the group extended gratitude to the Benue State Government for facilitating the smooth handover of the former General Hospital, Otukpo, for the establishment of the Federal University Teaching Hospital. They emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between various levels of government in fostering rapid socio-economic and political development.
Among the achievements attributed to Prof Ochejele's tenure are the construction and imminent commissioning of a 5-suite standard Theatre, renovation of Call Rooms for medical personnel, digitalization of X-ray facilities, and revitalization of essential infrastructure such as water tanks and generators. The group also noted the acquisition of a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for the Federal Teaching Hospital Otukpo land as a significant milestone.
