The Niger State Command of Department of State Service (DSS) have arrested seventeen suspected vandals of government infrastructures in Minna the state capital.

The operatives of the secret police acted on the directives of the Niger State goverment through a special Goverment announcement issued by the Secretary to the Niger State goverment ( SSG) Alhaji Abubakar Usman directing the Security agencies to go after the Vandals.

In apperent compliance to the directives of the State goverment,the operatives swiftly swung into action and effected the arrest of the alleged vandals along with  large numbers of interlock .

As a result of the ongoing expansion  of some major roads and constructions works  in Minna the state capital, youths and some adults were making brisk business on the removed interlock  that were laid on the center lanes by the administration of Abubakar Sani Bello.

Addressing newsmen while parading seventeen suspected vandals at the state Command headquarters of the Department of State Service in Minna Monday, Director civil engineering in the state Ministry of works and infrastructures in Niger state Mohammed Kudu Madami  stated that the arrest was effected on the directive of the state government through the office of the secretary to the state government.

He disclosed that the arrest of the vandals of the interlocking Should serve as a Stern warning to the public that the government would continue to safeguard and protect its infrastructures against the activities of vandals adding that the state government in collaboration with the security operatives will not fold its arms and allow some criminaly minded elements to vandalise goverment installation.

The Deputy Director stated that the arrested suspects will be subjected to thorough interrogation by the state Command of the DSS after which they will be handed to the relevant authority for onwards Prosecution in court.


Already, according to Kudu Madami a total manhut has been launched on the other suspected Vandals " that are still on the run and we will soon get them arrested to face the law"


Iterms recovered from them include  two big lorries loaded with interlocking tiles,two tippers with full loaded sharp sands  three pick-up vans one bus and three tricycles among other iterms.
