The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa Chapter, has suspended its chairman, Mallam Jafaru Loko, for alleged financial misconduct.

"We, members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa State Chapter, a non-governmental, non-profit-making organization, serve as the umbrella and highest decision-making body for youth in Nasarawa State. We are tasked with coordinating day-to-day activities, protecting, and promoting the aspirations of every individual youth in the state, with special emphasis on the role of youth in governance and state affairs.

Having convened at our Annual General Congress on December 20, 2023, at the Ibrahim Abacha Youth Centre in Lafia, Nasarawa State, and having extensively considered and discussed crucial issues affecting the council—such as lack of accountability by the council chairman, misappropriation of funds, and total disregard for the constitutional document guiding the council's operations—we, being mindful of the complete neglect of our major congressmen, the local chapter chairmen of this organization, hereby make the following resolutions:

1. The chairman, Mal Jafar Loko, facing serious allegations, is hereby suspended with immediate effect. This suspension aims to facilitate an independent and non-interfering investigation.

2. A fact-finding and investigative committee comprising nine individuals has been formed, with the council's Legal Adviser, Barrister Samuel John Attah, heading the committee.

3. No organization, whether governmental, private, or security-related, should engage with Mal Jafar Loko in the name of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.

4. Mal Jafar Loko must immediately cease presenting himself as the council chairman pending the outcome of the investigation.

5. The Committee will collaborate with the State Ministry of Youth and Sports to scrutinize questionable financial dealings, including state government approvals, and other matters concerning the conduct of the suspended Chairman.
