Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has approved N199.9, 2024 budget as presented by Gov. Abdullahi Sule to the House for consideration and approval.

Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House announced the House  approval after lawmakers deliberated on the report of the House Standing Committee on Finance and Appropriation on the bill during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

The Speaker appreciated the committee and members for good job and called for its sustenance.

" A Bill for a Law to Authorize the Issue Out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State (Appropriation) of the Sum of N199, 879, 370,709.43 only for the Services of Nasarawa State Government for the period of 12 months commencing from 1st January 2024 and Ending 31st December, 2024.

" The total sum of N117, 138, 350, 954.18 as Recurrent Expenditure while the sum of N82,741, 019, 755.25 as Capital Expenditure and N199, 879,370,709.43 as total revenue expected to service the budget," he said 

The Speaker slated tomorrow, Wednesday for the third reading of the bill. 

Earlier, Hon Hudu A Hudu, the Chairman', House Committee on Finance and Appropriation while presenting its report commended the cooperation of all MDAs in the State during their budget defence.

" It is salient to stress that collective effort towards realizing  this goal justified our faith to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Nasarawa State," he said 

The committee chairman commended Rt. Hon. Speaker Danladi Jatau for his efforts to expedite the process of passing the budget in a short  possible time .

Earlier, Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the adoption of the committee report which was seconded by Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Minority Leader of the House.

The House unanimously adopted the committee  report.

In a related development, A Bill for a Law to Amend, Repeal and Re-Enact the Nasarawa State Harmonization and Administration of Revenue Law 2020 and for Purposes Connected Therewith 2023 scaled first reading at the floor of the House.

The House also passed into first reading  A Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Public Complaints and Anti- Corruption Commission and for Other Matters Connected Therewith during the House proceedings.

Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Majority Leader of the House moved motions for the bills to scale first readings which were seconded by the Minority Leader of the House , Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba.

The House unanimously passed the bills into first readings.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon Danladi Jatau said the House would deliberate on the bills after resumption  from recess.
