Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has urged the state government to provide more portable water to communities across the state.
This, the House said provision of more water facilities, will improve on the standard of living of the people of the state and reduce spread of diseases.
Hon John Ovey, the Chairman of the Committee made the call when the Ministry of Water Resources appeared before the committee on its 2024 budget defence today in Lafia.
He said that he who provides water provides life as human being cannot sustain their lives without water.
The committee Chairman assured the ministry of support to enable them provide more portable water and for effective service delivery.
" We want to assure you of our support. We will also synergize with you to tackle the challenges facing water sector and other challenges of your ministry," he said
He urged the management not to leave any stone unturned in providing water to communities across the state as according to him it will go a long way in reducing the spread of diseases.
Responding, Hon Abubakar Akun, the Commissioner for Water Resources appreciated the committee for supporting its activities to succeed.
He said that the administration of Gov. Sule is being up and doing in ensuring the provision of water and other dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
Also appeared before the committee on its 2024 budget defence was the management of the State Water Board led by its General Manager, Kana Ahmed Abubakar where he thanked the committee and the state government for giving their attention to the board to succeed.
Further to appear before the committee to defend its 2024 budget was the management of Nasarawa State Rural Water and Sanitation Agency led by its General Manager, Dr Rowler Ayuba where he assured of their determination to keep the state clean at all times.
