From Suleiman Abubakar
Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Honorable (Barrister) Shuaibu Labaran Magaji, emphasized that the appeal court judgment removing the former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House Assembly doesn't only affect the All Progressives Congress (APC) family but the entire Toto local government area.
Magaji expressed that losing a No. 3 citizen means the host LG has also lost security, governance, and other benefits crucial for its development.
Speaking after the recent APC stakeholders meeting held at Abdullahi Adamu Youth Centre Toto, Magaji highlighted the impact he made while in office and acknowledged the support from Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for the area. He clarified that his contributions were not solely for the APC but for everyone's benefit.
The former Nasarawa West APC senatorial aspirant urged the people of Toto LG to accept the outcome in good faith, stating that though the court judgment wasn't surprising to him as a lawyer, its repercussions transcend party lines.
According to Magaji, losing the former Speaker, a crucial lawmaker and No. 3 citizen from Toto LG, doesn't only affect the APC but impacts the entire LG, including those from the opposition, due to the benefits the LG garnered from having the Speaker from their region.
He expressed hope for compensation for Toto LG and wished for a higher position for the former Speaker to continue serving the people.
At the APC stakeholders meeting organized by the Executive Chairman of Toto LGC, Honorable Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, Magaji commended the party structures for supporting the current administration. He cautioned against spreading rumors to sow division within the party, emphasizing that such actions only lead to destruction.
Leaders present at the meeting included the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, State APC Secretary Yurus Dagusa, Toto LGC Vice Chairman Honorable Abubakar Haruna Kwanakis, former House of Assembly member Honorable Usman Labaran Shafa, among others.
The meeting addressed strategies for unity and development within the party, focusing on sustaining cohesion among its members for effective governance and progress.
