From Abubakar Suleiman Lafia
The New Nigeria People's Party ( NNPP)'s governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Yakubu Maidoya, has debunked the ongoing speculations that the party's presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may step down for Atiku Abubakar ahead of the presidential election.
Mr Abubakar is the presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing local government and ward chairmen of the party at his campaign office, in Lafia, Maidoya said the speculations were the imagination of certain elements within the PDP, who are afraid of the rising popularity of the NNPP's presidential candidate.
He said there was never a time that Kwankwaso met the PDP'a presidential candidate to discuss such an alliance.
He said, "There was never a time our presidential candidate, Dr. Kwankwaso met with PDP presidential candidate over such matter. So to us in the NNPP, those were mere allegations sponsored by the PDP.
"PDP and it's presidential candidate have seen the rising popularity of our presidential candidate and the fact that Abubakar cannot match Kwankwaso in the coming election, and have resorted to untoward means to get at our candidate.
"But all their plans will fail because Kwankwaso is well accepted across the country and will win the presidential election by wide margin."
