Bauchi APM Replaces  Executives with Caretaker Committee
By Sule Aliyu Bauchi

The Bauchi State structure of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has been dissolved at all levels by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and inaugurated a seven-member caretaker committee to oversee the party’s affairs.

This was made known to Journalists by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam, during the swearing-in of the new caretaker committee at the Government House.

According to Akuyam, the decision was taken at the recent NWC meeting following unfolding events in the past few weeks and was ratified by the National Executive Council (NEC) on Saturday.

He informed that the party has instantly appointed a seven-member caretaker committee to administer the affairs of the Party in the state that will harmonise the two structures that collapsed into one.
According to him, the committee will administer the affairs of the party for the next one month and is expected to prepare and conduct a transparent congress to elect new executives from ward to state level.

“I am standing here on behalf of the National Chairman, the National Working Committee and members of NEC to conduct this swearing-in ceremony,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn-in Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Shehu Adaji, pledged to run an inclusive and transparent leadership that will strengthen the party’s grassroots structure.
He stressed that the committee accepts the responsibility with humility and gratitude to the NWC under the leadership of the National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, for the confidence reposed in them.

Adaji expressed appreciation to the national leader of the party and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for facilitating the appointment and supporting efforts to strengthen the party in the state.

He described local government and ward executives as the backbone of the party’s grassroots structure, assuring that the caretaker committee will work with them in the spirit of consultation, inclusion and mutual respect.

According to him, the priorities of the committee will be to strengthen party structures, promote unity and reconciliation, improve communication between state and grassroots leadership, and encourage active participation by all members.

“We call on stakeholders and party members to put aside personal differences and work together for a united, disciplined and better organised APM in Bauchi State,” he said.
Adaji reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to the party’s constitutional and lawful directives.

The 7 members of the caretaker committee include Alhaji Shehu Adaji as Chairman, Bello Mahmoud, Isiyaku Abdullahi, Lubabatu Ibrahim, Adamu Shuaibu, Mantuda Halan and Buhari Gentle.

The political ambition of Dr Yakubu Adamu to become the next governor of Bauchi State under the umbrella of APM party is facing a critical organisational test following escalating internal disagreements within the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), the party under whose platform he hopes to succeed Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad in 2027.governorship election.

The crisis has been marked by competing claims to party leadership, reported resignations and withdrawals, disagreements over the distribution of executive positions, and the eventual 27th October 2026 dissolution of the party’s executive structures across the 20 LGAs in Bauchi State.

On 27 October 2026, the APM national leadership inaugurated a caretaker committee to administer the party, reconcile its competing structures and organise fresh congresses. The intervention followed weeks of public disagreement over the state leadership.

The decision represents a significant turning point for APM in Bauchi. It also raises a fundamental question about Adamu’s governorship ambition: can a candidate seeking to lead an entire state build and sustain a political coalition when the organisation expected to support his candidacy is still struggling to establish an undisputed leadership structure?

The answer will depend on the party’s ability to resolve its internal disagreements, retain experienced stakeholders and demonstrate that its structures can function effectively beyond the influence of individual political leaders.
That is where APM’s current difficulties become particularly relevant.

A governorship ambition built on continuity

Adamu emerged as APM’s governorship candidate in May 2026 after serving as Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development. His emergence was accompanied by an explicit commitment to build on the policies and achievements of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration

Rival leadership claims expose a deeper organisational problem

It was reported that On 21 October 2026,   a faction of APM executives had announced the suspension of state chairman Auwal Isa Mai Takalminroba.

The faction, represented by party secretary Mohammed Nasir Yahaya, cited alleged constitutional breaches, concerns about financial accountability, inadequate record-keeping and disagreements over the management of party affairs.

It also alleged that tensions intensified after Governor Bala Mohammed and political associates entered APM, with disputes emerging over the integration of new members and the distribution of leadership positions.

The faction claimed that a proposed arrangement would give the governor’s associates 70 per cent of the party leadership structure while leaving original APM members with 30 per cent. This was an allegation made by the faction and should not be treated as an independently established agreement.

The dispute exposed a difficult question facing the party: how should APM accommodate a major influx of politically influential entrants without alienating members who had built its structures before the new arrivals?

The national leadership’s subsequent decision to dissolve the executive structures from ward to state level demonstrated the seriousness of the organisational challenge.
