2027: Akala Samuel Quits ADC, Joins SDP to Contest Karu/Gitata Assembly Seat

By Suleiman Abubakar Rimi Uku

Hon. Akala Samuel, who resigned his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and withdrew his candidacy for the Karu/Gitata State Constituency of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has confirmed that he has joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Samuel disclosed this in a telephone conversation with Rimawaglobalnews, confirming his resignation from the ADC and his subsequent registration with the SDP.

He said he would contest the 2027 Nasarawa State House of Assembly election for Karu/Gitata Constituency on the platform of the SDP.

Samuel had earlier formally communicated his resignation from the ADC in a letter dated August 3, 2026, addressed to the ADC Ward Chairman of Pand/Kare Electoral Ward, Karu Local Government Area.

In the letter, he also withdrew his candidacy as the ADC candidate for the 2027 Karu/Gitata State House of Assembly election, citing personal reasons and consultations with his leaders, family members, team and supporters.

He requested the party to remove his name from its ward register, records and electoral processes relating to the constituency.

His latest confirmation clarifies that his withdrawal from the ADC candidacy is not an exit from the 2027 electoral contest, as he intends to pursue the Karu/Gitata Assembly seat under the SDP.

Samuel's political movement comes as parties in Nasarawa State intensify preparations and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
