Taraba Govt Pledges Partnership With NSUK ALUMNI For Institutional Development

The Taraba State Government has pledged to partner with the leadership of the Nasarawa State University Alumni Association to attract more development to the institution.
Governor Kefas Agbu made the pledge on Tuesday when he received leaders and stakeholders of the association at the Government House, Jalingo on courtesy visit.
The Governor, who bagged his PhD in Conflict and Security Studies from NSUK, described himself as a proud alumnus and said he will continue to contribute to the institution’s growth.
“When an institution like this has done a lot of sacrifice to develop people like us, we need to put our hands together to see how we can give back to that institution,” he said.
He disclosed that he and his Sokoto State counterpart, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, who also obtained PhD from NSUK, will collaborate to support the association to achieve more for the institution and its members.
Dr. Kefas commended the association’s leadership for its commitment to development of NSUK and urged members to remain courageous and build the association into a model for others.
“I want you people to continue to be courageous and make this association strong,” he said.
He added that his doors are open for positive contributions and urged alumni to monitor government activities and offer advice to help it deliver.
Speaking on governance, the Governor said security of lives and property remains his constitutional mandate. He cited ongoing infrastructural development and a strengthened security architecture as evidence, and called on citizens to pray for leaders instead of condemning them.
The National President of the Nasarawa State University Alumni Association, Barr. Nuhu J. Egya, described Governor Kefas as a worthy ambassador of the association.
He said the Governor’s record in the last three years has restored security in the once volatile state and driven infrastructural and human capital development.
Egya, supported by Dr. Solomon Pevkyaa, Senior Special Assistant to the Nasarawa State Governor on Culture and Tourism, assured that the association will continue to support the Governor in prayers and mobilize members across the state and beyond for his re-election bid in 2027.
The Alumni delegation later paid a solidarity visit to a prominent son of Nasarawa State, SP Emmanuel Jamu, who is serving as the Commander of Operation Strike Force, a security outfit put in place by Governor Kefas Agbu to address security challenges in Taraba State.
