From Our Correspondent In Katsina

The Katsina State chapter of the Atiku/Amaechi Movement has pledged to mobilise support across the state for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Ahmad Babba Kaita, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a press statement signed by Abubakar Ahmed, Spokesman to Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita Gubernatorial Campaign, and dated August 15, 2026, the movement said it was determined to deliver Katsina State to Atiku Abubakar and Ahmad Babba Kaita in the presidential and gubernatorial elections respectively.

The Atiku/Amaechi Movement, according to the statement, is a national political platform comprising Nigerians within and outside the country who share the objective of changing the current political leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing executive members of the movement drawn from the 34 local government areas of Katsina State at the Ahmad Babba Kaita Gubernatorial Campaign Office in Katsina, the State Coordinator, Alhaji Sani Abubakar, announced the expansion of the movement’s structure and operations across the state.

He disclosed that the organisation would henceforth be known in Katsina State as the Atiku/Amaechi/Kaita Movement, reflecting its commitment to both the presidential and gubernatorial campaigns.

While submitting the movement’s introductory letter to the Ahmad Babba Kaita Gubernatorial Campaign Office through one of the ADC’s Katsina Central Senatorial aspirants, Alhaji Surajo Aminu-Makera, the State Secretary of the movement, Alhaji Aliyu Ahmad Kurfi, said the organisation was already fully established across the state.

Kurfi disclosed that the movement has 20 executive members at the state level, while each of the 34 local government areas has 20 executive members responsible for coordinating its activities.

He added that the structure also includes one leader in each ward and five persons assigned to each polling unit as part of the movement’s grassroots mobilisation strategy.

Responding, Alhaji Surajo Aminu-Makera commended the leadership of the movement for its initiative and assured it of the full support and partnership of the Ahmad Babba Kaita Gubernatorial Campaign Office in carrying out its activities across the state.

Makera also urged the people of Katsina State to continue supporting the ADC, expressing optimism that Nigerians would enjoy better days under an ADC administration led by Atiku Abubakar as President and ADC governors across the federation.

Meanwhile, the party has continued to receive various support groups and associations ahead of the official commencement of the presidential campaign scheduled for August 19, 2026, as released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
