A total of Seventy one suspected criminals have been arrested by men of the Niger State Police Command within the month of July,2026.
Also the Command recovered ten AK Rifles,15 AK Magazines and 330 assorted ammunition were recovered from the suspected hudlooms within the same July,across the state.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police in Niger State,CP Abdullahi Adamu Elleman while addressing Journalists at a newsbriefing held at the Command headquarters in Dutsen Kura in Minna.
He disclosed further that within the same period,operatives of the tactical squared of the Command rescued nine children believed to have been kidnapped and rescued one abducted baby,recovered 17 goats,four Cows among other items were recovered from the criminals.
According to the Commissioner of Police,men of the Command Tactical squared arrested six suspects for alleged armed robbery,kidnapping and culpable homicide and ten assorted AK Rifles were found in their possession.
He stated that their arrest was based on credible informations on the incessant activities of suspected kidnappers around Garam,Chachi,Ija-Gwari,Ijah-Koro,Gauraka and Kaduna road in the early part of this year.
Speaking further,the Commissioner of Police,told Journalists, that as a result of the credible Intelligence received,men of the tactical team of the Command were swiftly depoleyed to “ these areas and further interligence recieved indicated that one Samaila Shefiu (aka) Yakumujuri 45 years of Barikin-Sale area of Minna was among the kingpins alleged to be terrorizing the above mentioned areas including Kubwa and Bwari areas of FCT,Abuja”
Also in Police net,according to the Commissioner,is a 42 year old Mohammed Aliyu Buba of Angwan Sarki area of Minna.
Aliyu Buba was said to have belong to some gang of syndicates that specialized in printing of fake voter cards and NIN.
During Police investigation,a total of105 NiN Cards and 189 voter Cards were found in his possession,under interrogation he confessed to have specialized in the production of the fake cards for unsuspecting members of Community around Wushishi and Munya local government areas of the state.
Under further interrogation,the Commissioner disclosed that he charges his victims N2000 per NIN and N1000 per voters card and has realized over three million naira (N3,000,000) as proceeds of the crimes.
CP Abdullahi Adamu Elleman,who attributed the success recorded by the Command to the support and cooperation from the members of the public in the state through the provision of credible informations,he appealed to the residents of the state to continue to partner with his command with such informations.
He pointed out that the Police as an Institution cannot work in isolation with the provision of credible information on the activities of criminal elements “in our midsts.
While commending the Niger State governor Mohammed Umar Bago for his unflishing support to the Command CP Adamu Elleman assured that the Command will continue to reciprocate the gesture in ensuring the full Policing of the State at all times.
