ADO PROGRESSIVE YOUTH ASSOCIATION URGES GOVERNMENT TO TACKLE HARDSHIP, INSECURITY AS NIGERIA MARKS DEMOCRACY DAY

Calls for Youth Inclusion, Job Creation and Enhanced Security Across Communities
By Our Correspondent

The Ado Progressive Youth Association has called on governments at all levels to urgently address the growing economic hardship and insecurity confronting Nigerians, stressing that democracy can only be meaningful when it delivers tangible benefits to the people.
The Chairman of the association, Comrade Isah Nasiru, made the call in a Democracy Day message commemorating Nigeria's democratic journey and the sacrifices of those who fought for democratic governance.
According to him, Democracy Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the power of the people to elect their leaders and shape the future of the nation, while also reflecting on the challenges facing citizens.
While congratulating governments at all levels for sustaining democratic governance, Comrade Nasiru noted that millions of Nigerians continue to grapple with rising living costs, unemployment and insecurity.
He expressed concern over the increasing cost of food, transportation and other essential commodities, which he said has placed severe pressure on families across the country.
"The rising cost of food, transport and basic necessities is pushing many families to the edge. Many young graduates are filled with hope but are confronted with unemployment and poverty," he stated.
The youth leader also lamented the persistent security challenges, including banditry, kidnapping and communal conflicts, which he said continue to threaten lives, livelihoods and agricultural activities in many communities.
"No meaningful development can take place where people do not feel safe," he added.
The association called on authorities to strengthen security operations, particularly in rural areas, while also implementing practical relief measures for vulnerable households.
Comrade Nasiru further urged governments to create sustainable employment opportunities and skills acquisition programmes for young people, emphasizing that youth inclusion in governance and decision-making processes remains critical to national development.
He reaffirmed the association's commitment to supporting peace, unity and development, especially within Ado and neighbouring communities.
"Our message today is one of hope mixed with responsibility. We stand with Nigeria, and we ask our leaders to stand with the people," he said.
The association concluded by wishing continued progress for Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria as the country marks another Democracy Day celebration.
