Governorship aspirant on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Salihu Tanimu Sarkin Dawaki, popularly known as Mai Tutan Wamba, has declared that he possesses the political experience, grassroots connection, and leadership capacity required to govern Nasarawa State effectively.
Speaking during an exclusive interview, the SDP governorship hopeful said he was not a newcomer in the political arena, stressing that he had previously contested for the governorship seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, his decision to contest under the SDP was driven by his desire to provide purposeful leadership and deliver inclusive governance to the people of Nasarawa State.
“I am not a novice in politics.
I have contested for the same governorship position previously under the platform of the APC. So, I understand the political terrain of Nasarawa State very well,” he stated.
The aspirant described himself as a grassroots politician, businessman, and committed son of Nasarawa State who has contributed immensely to community development and empowerment over the years.
He noted that despite the abundant human and natural resources in the state, many citizens still grapple with poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and poor infrastructure.
Alhaji Salihu Tanimu Sarkin Dawaki explained that the SDP offers a credible alternative platform capable of promoting justice, fairness, development, and the welfare of ordinary citizens.
He assured that if elected governor, his administration would focus on education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, women inclusion, industrial development, and infrastructural expansion across the state.
The governorship aspirant further unveiled key policy programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of the people.
Among his proposed policies are free education from primary to secondary school level, free medical care for elderly citizens aged 65 years and above, as well as free healthcare services for pregnant women from conception to childbirth.
Other priorities highlighted by the SDP governorship hopeful include security protection of lives and property, youth empowerment, full scholarship opportunities for students, agricultural transformation through innovative farming, and massive rural road and infrastructure development.
“What distinguishes me is my closeness to the grassroots and my commitment to the welfare of ordinary citizens.
I understand the pains and challenges facing our people because I interact with them regularly,” he said.
He also promised to run a transparent and accountable administration that would prioritize job creation, rural development, support for farmers, and economic opportunities for youths and women.
On security and unity, the aspirant stressed the need for peaceful coexistence among all ethnic and religious groups in Nasarawa State, noting that peace and harmony remain essential ingredients for sustainable development.
He appealed to the people of the state to support credible leaders with vision, competence, and the capacity to deliver democratic dividends.
“This election should not be about sentiments but about competence, vision, and capacity to deliver dividends of democracy. I am fully prepared and committed to serving the people with sincerity, fairness, and dedication if given the mandate under the platform of the SDP,” he added.
Alhaji Salihu Tanimu Sarkin Dawaki concluded by appreciating the people of Nasarawa State for their support and encouragement, urging them to remain peaceful, united, and hopeful for a better future.
