More than 200,000 residents of Yobe State have benefited from the Ramadan feeding programme initiated by Kashim Musa Tumsah (KMT), a governorship hopeful ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The intervention, which has reached the halfway point of the 2026 Ramadan fast, is providing nutritious meals to thousands of vulnerable residents across the state.

The Ramadan feeding programme, according to organisers, forms part of KMT’s annual humanitarian outreach aimed at supporting the needy, orphans and vulnerable households during the holy month.

The initiative is designed to enable beneficiaries break their daily fast with ease and dignity.

Estimates obtained from the various KMT Ramadan feeding centres and mobile feeding teams operating across the three senatorial zones of Yobe State indicate that over 200,000 people have already been served within the first 15 days of the fasting period.

A new innovation was introduced into this year’s programme with the deployment of mobile teams delivering meals directly to Sangaya-based Qur’anic schools, the elderly and residents living far from the designated feeding centres, ensuring wider reach and inclusiveness.

Kashim Musa Tumsah, widely known as KMT, has for decades championed initiatives aimed at human development in Yobe State.

His interventions span several sectors including education, healthcare, economic empowerment, provision of solar-powered boreholes for clean water, solar street lighting, rural feeder roads and empowerment schemes targeted at women and youths.

Observers note that despite never holding any public or political office in the state, KMT’s sustained development efforts have earned him significant grassroots support.

His growing popularity has reportedly encouraged many residents to urge him to contest the governorship of Yobe State in the 2027 elections.

Supporters of the aspirant are also credited with promoting voter education campaigns and encouraging participation in the ongoing voter registration and the All Progressives Congress (APC) membership e-registration exercise across the state.

The campaigns, according to organisers, are aimed at strengthening democratic participation and ensuring that citizens across communities are adequately mobilised ahead of future elections.
