The Minority Leader of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), Hon. Luka Zhekaba, has officially resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved internal crises within the party.

Zhekaba, who represents Obi II Constituency, made his decision known through close associates, pointing to the protracted leadership challenges in the PDP as the driving force behind his exit.

Confirming the development, his aide, Obadiah Dei, disclosed that the lawmaker is set to defect to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

According to the aide, Zhekaba is positioning himself to contest for a third term in office under the SDP platform, signaling a significant political shift in the state’s legislative landscape.
