The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has tasked newly elected Local Government Executive Committee members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to work diligently toward securing victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Jatau gave the charge shortly after the successful conduct of the APC Local Government Congress held on Saturday in Garaku, headquarters of Kokona Local Government Area.
The Speaker, who is regarded as the number three citizen in the state, commended party stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful, transparent, and rancour-free exercise, describing the congress as a demonstration of internal democracy and party discipline.
“Our officials at the local government level have emerged through consensus as we have abided strictly by the party guidelines,” he said. “The conduct of the exercise was peaceful, transparent, and commendable.”
He further urged newly elected officials across the state to remain committed and united, emphasizing the importance of grassroots mobilization and loyalty to party ideals as preparations begin toward the 2027 electoral cycle.
Dr. Jatau also called on other local government areas to emulate Kokona’s example, stressing that unity and peaceful political engagement remain critical to strengthening the party’s structure and ensuring sustainable political success.
Stakeholders Commend Orderly Process
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John Mamman; the lawmaker representing Kokona East Constituency, Hon. Daniel Ogazi; and the Chairman of Kokona Local Government Area, Hon. Agbawu Mek Agbawu, applauded the peaceful conduct of the congress.
The stakeholders noted that the emergence of the new executive members through consensus reflected unity and mutual understanding among party members, which they described as a positive signal for the party’s future electoral prospects.
They expressed confidence that the new executives would consolidate on the party’s achievements at the grassroots level and strengthen its chances ahead of future political contests.
The APC Local Government Congress is part of the party’s internal restructuring process aimed at reinforcing its leadership framework and preparing for upcoming political engagements across the state and the country.
