IPOB Hails Georgia As Nnamdi Kanu Bags Prestigious Honorary Citizen Award In U.S
Acknowledgment Described as Symbolic Recognition of Advocacy, Cultural Engagement and Global Influence

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has formally expressed deep appreciation to the State of Georgia, United States of America, and Congressman Gabe Okoye, for facilitating the conferment of the prestigious Honorary Citizen of Georgia Award on its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by IPOB’s Spokesperson and Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group described the recognition as a symbolic gesture of goodwill and acknowledgment of Kanu’s contributions to public discourse, humanitarian advocacy, cultural engagement, and global awareness.
According to the statement, the honorary designation reflects the State of Georgia’s recognition of Kanu as a distinguished guest and friend of the state, noting that such honors are reserved for individuals whose influence transcends national borders.
IPOB further noted that historically, only a limited number of foreign nationals have received similar honorary recognition in the United States since 1963, with some of the honors conferred posthumously. The organization emphasized that Kanu’s recognition during his lifetime underscores the significance and importance attached to the award.
The group also extended appreciation to the Office of the Secretary of State of Georgia, headed by Brad Raffensperger, as well as the Governor and citizens of Georgia, for what it described as a notable act of goodwill and acknowledgment.
IPOB stated that the conferment represents a meaningful milestone for its leader and supporters worldwide, reaffirming their appreciation to the Georgian authorities for recognizing Kanu’s global advocacy and influence.
