The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume on Friday paid traditional New Year's homage to key leaders and political stakeholders of Benue State, including elder statesman, Chief Augustine Aho, a prominent second republic politician.
This event is an annual tradition by the SGF.
During the visit, Senate Akume who led the powerful delegation, praised elder Aho's courage in supporting the administration of APC and assured him of the party's full support at all times.
Sen. Akume expressed encouragement from the support the APC has continued to receive in the state over the years through the influence of the elder statesman and reiterated the determination of President Bola Tinubu's administration to make courageous decisions and work harder to move Nigeria to the "Promised Land" in the new year.
In a heartwarming gesture of respect and appreciation, the SGF is emphasised that the unexpected visit to the revered super elder statesman, Chief Augustine Aho, was long overdue.
He reaffirmed that the visit which coincided with celebration of the New year was a very strategic move by to him considering the unwavering dedication of elder Aho to the ruling party, APC.
Sen. Akume praised elder Aho for his lifelong commitment to the party, noting that Aho's loyalty and hard work have been evident since the days of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to the current All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sen. Akume who was represented by Hon. Cletus Uchin, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Cincley Nigeria Limited, Abuja Digital, assured Elder Aho of APC's continuous respect and collaboration with party elders.
He stayed that visit was intended to further solidify the bond between the party leadership and its esteemed members.
Elder Augustine Aho, in his response, expressed gratitude for the visit and the display of solidarity from Dr. Akume, noting that the visit reignited his faith in the APC and motivated him to continue supporting the party.
He urged Sen. Akume to maintain such interactions with party elders, as such gestures of recognition help strengthen the party's foundation and ensure unity among its members.
He maintained that the visit of Senator Akume did not only symbolized mutual respect but also highlighted the importance of honouring the contributions of veteran members within the political landscape.
He added that the visit serves as a reminder of the value of unity and cooperation within political parties, laying a strong foundation for the APC's continued success in the future.
