The Zone B'Senatorial District of the Niger State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal,has on Tuesday, issued a bench warrant on the Chairman Niger Board Of Internal Revenue Service (NSBIRS) Alhaji Madami Etsu,for his refusal to produce some relevant documents that will assist the tribunal in respect of the affidavit deposed to by the Chairman of Suleja Local Government Hon Isyaku Bawa Naibi.
The Chairman of the Tribunal Chief Magistrate Maryam King who made the pronouncement at the Tuesday hearing of the Tribunal held that several invitations forwarded to the chairman of the NSBIRS to appear before the tribunal to produce the certified true copy of the receipt used in purchase of the said documents has not been honoured.
The pronouncement made through a member of the three members of the Tribunal Chief Magistrate Paul Adama described the refusal Alhaji Madami Etsu as a disrespect to the Tribunal constituted by the enabling law as enshrined in the Constitution.
“ Several subpoenas to the chairman of the Niger State Board Of Internal Revenue Service NSBIRS to appear before this tribunal to produce the certified true copy (CTC),of the receipt used in the purchase of the affidavit deposed to he refused.
“ The Tribunal has hereby issued a warrant of arrest on the Chairman of the Niger Niger State Board of Internal Revenue Service (NSBIRS) to appear before the tribunal on the 14th of January, 2026 to produce the certified true copy of the receipt used in the purchase of the affidavit unfailingly tomorrow the 14th, of January 2026” the Tribunal chairman declared.
Speaking in an interview with journalists the counsel to the petitioner Barrister Abdulraham Ahmad Siraj said the Chairman of the state Board Of Internal Revenue Service has refused to honor several invitations to him by the Tribunal to produce relevant documents needed in the Tribunal that will assist in adjudicating into the petition he has refused to honor the invitation.
He stated that he applied to the Tribunal to issue the warrant of arrest on him to produce the documents which he said,” is relevant in the petition we filed in the Tribunal.
“ The tribunal has just issued the warrant for his arrest for him to produce the certified true copy of the receipt used in the purchase of the affidavit deposed to by the Chairman”. he said.
Abdukadir Shehu Ndagi of the Social Democratic party SDP has filed a petition against Isyaku Bawa Naibi of the All Progressive Congress (APC) challenging the election of the respondent alleging that Isyaku Bawa Naibi was not qualified to contest the election in to the office of chairman Suleja Local Government in the November 1st 2025 election.
He alleged that the APC Candidate forged his primary school Certificate to contest the election and the election was. marred with irregularities and non-compliance with the electoral laws among other allegations.
