The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dissolved the party’s executive committees in Kano State, from the state level down to the ward structures, in a sweeping reorganisation of the party’s leadership.

In a related development, a court has upheld the suspension of the Kano State Chairman, Dungurawa, paving the way for the emergence of Abiya as the Acting Chairman of the NNPP in the state.

The twin developments are widely interpreted by political observers as a strategic move by the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to retain and consolidate firm control over the NNPP’s structure in Kano, the party’s stronghold.

Reacting to the unfolding situation, Kwankwaso issued a stern warning to members who have defected or distanced themselves from the movement, cautioning that no one has ever succeeded politically by betraying the platform that gave them relevance.

According to him, Nigeria’s political history clearly shows that individuals who attempt to rise by turning against the people and the movement that nurtured them often end in failure.

He stressed that betrayal has never yielded positive outcomes in the country’s political landscape.

Kwankwaso’s remarks are seen as a direct message to aggrieved party members and defectors, reaffirming his resolve to maintain discipline, loyalty and cohesion within the NNPP as the party navigates internal realignments ahead of future political contests.
