AYSMGN accuses self-appointed stakeholders of hijacking party structure, calls for transparency, youth inclusion

A pressure group within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the ADC Your Support Matters Group of Nigeria (AYSMGN), has raised serious concerns over what it described as a deepening leadership crisis and loss of confidence within the party’s structure in Katsina State.
In a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Amb. H.E. Nasiru Umar Dutsinma, the group accused what it termed “self-appointed stakeholders” of hijacking the party’s leadership and decision-making processes for personal gain, to the detriment of unity, internal democracy, and the collective interest of party members.
AYSMGN said the ADC, once seen as a platform of hope for many citizens in Katsina State, is now grappling with internal conflicts, power struggles, and manipulation allegedly driven by individuals seeking to impose candidates against the will of party members, particularly at the grassroots.
The group warned youths within the party to remain vigilant, stressing that the era of manipulation, imposition, and being “used and dumped” was over. According to the statement, the ADC must reflect the aspirations of young people and safeguard the future of coming generations.
“The current leadership and management structure being driven by these self-appointed stakeholders is unsustainable and has led to a breakdown of unity and peaceful coexistence within the party,” AYSMGN stated. It alleged that party affairs in Katsina State are being controlled by individuals more interested in turning the party into a source of income than advancing its ideals.
The group further accused some leaders of sidelining genuine stakeholders across the 34 local government areas of the state and undermining democratic principles through what it described as “dictatorial nominations without broad consent.”
AYSMGN therefore called for immediate reforms and restructuring of the ADC stakeholders’ leadership structure in Katsina State, urging the party’s national leadership to intervene decisively.
Among its key demands are the promotion of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in all decision-making processes; a thorough investigation into allegations of imposed candidacies and mismanagement; and a renewed commitment to unity and progress in line with the will of the people of Katsina State rather than personal interests.
The group vowed to continue speaking out, insisting it would not be silenced or intimidated in its advocacy for internal democracy and the rights of party members.
“We urge all ADC members in Katsina State to join us in rebuilding the party into a truly democratic and inclusive platform that serves the people,” the statement concluded.
