Senator Abdulaziz Yari, representing Zamfara West, has alleged that Nigeria’s Presidency is being influenced and operated from outside the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

He further claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is “caged” by forces around him.

Yari made the remarks on Wednesday at the One Nigeria Project Conference in Abuja, where he also dismissed the notion that foreign intervention—particularly from the United States—could solve Nigeria’s challenges.

According to the former Zamfara State governor, Nigeria remains firmly under divine preservation despite its numerous internal challenges, emphasizing that the country has survived critical moments in history and will continue to stand. He said:

“This country called Nigeria is more of God’s own country than any other. Before 1999, many believed the nation would collapse, especially during the June 12 crisis, but God kept Nigeria together and He is still in charge.”

Yari insisted that Nigeria’s problems must be addressed by Nigerians themselves, adding that former U.S. President Donald Trump or any foreign leader cannot resolve the country’s internal issues.

“Don’t call Trump.

He has no business in Nigeria. Our problems can only be solved by Nigerians.”

The senator also claimed that despite supporting President Tinubu, a powerful elite group operates behind the scenes, influencing decisions at the Presidency.

“Those close to the Presidency know that the Presidency is being run from outside the Villa more than inside it. We already have the President caged there. We locked him, but we do the operations.”

He accused certain elites of attacking Tinubu while concealing the real issues affecting the country, urging them to uphold the trust placed in them.

Yari added that he had met with President Tinubu the night before the event and encouraged him to follow activities of the One Nigeria Project, which he believes deserves government support.

The senator concluded by calling for unity and urging Nigerians to take responsibility for the nation’s future.
