The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has nominated the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Nasarawa State, Barr. Isaac Danladi, for its prestigious Diamond Jubilee National Award.
The nomination, conveyed in a letter signed by the SWAN Secretary-General, Ambassador Ikenna Okonkwo, recognizes Barr. Danladi’s “resilient and sustained development drive in the Nigerian football ecosystem.”
According to the letter, the honour celebrates his significant contributions to sports development, particularly football, through which many young Nigerians have discovered and nurtured their talents, rising to national and international prominence.
“Through you, a number of young people with football talents have realized their potentials and developed to stardom, breathing life to many homes and communities within Nigeria and beyond,” the letter read in part.
The association further expressed appreciation for Barr. Danladi’s impact as the former Chairman of Nasarawa United Football Club, acknowledging his efforts in promoting youth empowerment and sports excellence across the country.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, on Thursday, October 31, 2025, by 1 p.m.
SWAN noted that the recognition forms part of activities marking its Diamond Jubilee Anniversary, adding that Nigerian sports writers owe Barr. Danladi gratitude “for making Nigerian football great.”
