The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, has strongly condemned the recent midnight attack on Nindama Community in Kokona Local Government Area by unidentified gunmen, describing it as barbaric, unfortunate, and painful.
Dr. Jatau, who visited the community on Wednesday, sympathized with the victims and families who lost their loved ones in the attack, which occurred last Thursday night, resulting in multiple fatalities and widespread grief.
Speaking during the visit, the Speaker expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and called for calm among residents, assuring them that Governor Abdullahi Sule has taken proactive measures to forestall further occurrences.
“This is very sad, unfortunate, and painful, but we must leave vengeance to God Almighty, who will fight for the innocent,” Dr. Jatau said.
“Taking another person’s life is a grave sin before God and a serious offence under the law. Let us not repay evil with evil. God and the law will take their course.”
The Speaker conveyed the condolences of the entire State Assembly to the people of Nindama and commended Governor Sule for his prompt response and commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens across the state.
“I want to commend the Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, for the practical steps taken so far and to assure you that the government is on top of the situation,” he added.
“Let us continue to live together in peace, love, and unity, as there is no gain in violence. Peace remains the foundation of progress.”
Dr. Jatau reiterated his call for residents to embrace peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding while urging communities to support security agencies through timely information sharing.
In his response, the Ward Head of Nindama, Ibrahim Alkali, thanked the Speaker for the visit, noting that the community had been thrown into mourning since the attack.
He appealed for stronger security presence and more humanitarian support to help affected families recover.
The Speaker’s visit brought a sense of relief to the grieving community, as leaders and residents prayed for lasting peace and divine justice.
