Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has commended the member representing Lafia Central Constituency, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki, for his commitment to improving healthcare delivery for his constituents through a five-day free medical outreach targeting over 3,000 patients.

Dr. Jatau gave the commendation while declaring open the maiden edition of the outreach on Tuesday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

He described the initiative as a clear demonstration of effective representation and genuine service to humanity, adding that it aligns with the vision of the 7th Assembly to bring governance closer to the people.

“This is democracy in action — the dividends of democracy at work. I am proud of Hon. Akwashiki; he is doing wonders with the little resources at his disposal,” the Speaker stated.

He further called on residents of Lafia Central Constituency to rally round Hon. Akwashiki and support his political journey beyond 2027, noting that such dedication to public service deserves continuity.

The Solomon Akwashiki Foundation, under which the outreach was organized, aims to provide surgical operations, eye care services, consultations, drug distribution, and health education to residents free of charge.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki said the medical outreach was part of his deliberate efforts to bring relief to individuals with health challenges and enhance access to quality healthcare.

According to him, “This outreach is designed to touch lives positively. My commitment is to continue bringing the dividends of democracy to my people through partnerships with the state and federal governments, as well as international organizations.”

He revealed that the Solomon Akwashiki Foundation was established as a platform to attract national and international donor interventions for sustainable community development in Lafia Central.

The lead medical practitioner, Dr. Ebele Yakubu, explained that the program covers surgeries, eye treatments, consultations, and drug dispensation, urging residents to take advantage of the opportunity.

Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Hon. Akwashiki for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, while praying for God’s blessings upon the lawmaker for his humanitarian efforts.
