…Describes legal profession as “noble and distinct among all”

The Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi, has charged law students from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) to uphold the ethics, discipline, and decorum required of the legal profession as they prepare to join the noble field of law.
Barr. Danladi gave the charge when he received a delegation of law students under the Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), Nasarawa State chapter, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the State Ministry of Justice, Lafia.
Commending the students for their determination and career choice, Danladi remarked that the legal profession stands out among all other fields of study, describing it as a noble calling that demands high moral and intellectual standards.
“Let me commend you for the path you have chosen. I often say there are only two professions in the world, the legal profession and others. You have made the right choice, and I’m pleased to see that you are almost at the end of your academic journey,” he stated.
Recounting his personal experience, the Attorney General shared how he began his legal career in 1984, graduated in 1987, attended law school in 1988, and joined the civil service in 1989, rising through the ranks to become a Permanent Secretary before his current appointment.
“This is a profession that demands commitment, good character, and respect for professional etiquette , from the way you speak, dress, and conduct yourself, to the way you think and analyze issues,” Danladi added.
He also encouraged the students to emulate the dedication of legal practitioners and to take advantage of mentorship opportunities within the Ministry, which he described as “the largest legal chamber in any state.”
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and President of LAWSAN Nasarawa Chapter, Comrade Danjuma Benjamin Oklo, appreciated the Attorney General for granting the audience and for his consistent support to law students in the state.
Oklo explained that LAWSAN serves as the umbrella body of law students across Nigeria, facilitating academic development, mentorship programs, and professional training through partnerships with key legal institutions and personalities, including the Attorney General of the Federation and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
“We’ve held several webinars and mentorship programs with distinguished figures in the legal field. Here in Nasarawa State, the Office of the Attorney General has remained a friendly institution, always supporting our academic and professional aspirations,” Oklo noted.
Also speaking, the association’s Secretary, Comrade Mathew Obinna Jude, revealed that preparations are underway for the Annual General Conference of Law Students scheduled to hold in Abuja from November 25 to 29, which is expected to host over 1,000 participants from across the federation.
In their separate goodwill messages, Directors in the Ministry , Barr. Ishaku Barki Gyado (Law Reform), Barr. Halima Hudu Abubakar (Citizens’ Rights), Barr. Alu Justina Alkali (Public Defender and GBV), and Barr. Alhassan Sabo (Civil Litigation), admonished the students to remain focused, disciplined, and diligent in their studies.
They assured the students of the Ministry’s readiness to provide guidance and support whenever needed, emphasizing that hard work and ethical conduct are the hallmarks of success in the legal profession.
The student delegation also included Faith Ayikpo David and Benedicta Ogu, among other members of the executive.
